GLAFA CORE CURRICULUM
DRAWING PORTION:
ALL/NEW STUDENTS:
Drawing board - one that you can place on an upright easel
Drawing paper - any is fine, but I recommend the Strathmore 400 drawing paper
Pencils - 2B, HB, and 2H to start (Staedtler and Blackwing are great brands)
Kneaded eraser
Hand mirror
Plumb line - just a string tied around a washer or similar weighted, small object
Razor blade, knife, etc. - for sharpening pencils
Sandpaper or sanding block - for sharpening pencils
Optional: knitting needle, BBQ skewer, bicycle spoke, etc. Something long and skinny to help with measuring
Optional: Staedtler Mar Technico Lead Holder w/e Leads - my preferred alternative to the normal pencils made of wood
ONLY FOR STUDENTS BEGINNING CAST WORK:
Vine charcoal for varying hardnesses - Nitram brand recommended, but feel free to experiment
Mahl stick - something long and sturdy to rest your hand against without pressing into the drawing. A cheap hardware store dowel is perfectly fine
